Branston Leas wins at national awards

07 November 2016

Branston Leas has been named the best regeneration project in the UK at this year’s national Housebuilder Awards.

Delivered by St. Modwen and its housebuilding business, St. Modwen Homes, Branston Leas, located just three miles from the centre of Burton-on-Trent, fought off stiff competition from eight other finalists; half of which are located in London.

The judges awarded Branston Leas the top accolade thanks to the many measurable economic, environmental and educational improvements that the development has brought to the local area.

Dave Smith, Managing Director at St. Modwen Homes, said: “St. Modwen prides itself on its successful approach to regeneration. We understand that real regeneration is about more than just building new homes, offices or shops; it’s about transforming an area to benefit the local community. This includes working with local people and various organisations to ensure that we really are delivering the best development possible.”

To date, St. Modwen Homes has delivered 64 new homes, with construction underway on the next 204 properties at Branston Leas. Additionally, over 90,000 hours of employment have been created, with 1,500 new jobs due to be generated throughout the entire development. St. Modwen has also extended the local school, Rykneld Primary School, providing 160 new school places.

Additionally, working with Staffordshire Wildlife Trust and The Woodlands Trust, St. Modwen has put much focus on the long-term environmental benefits at Branston Leas. Impressively, 17,000 trees have already been planted at Branston Leas Wood, which will become part of the National Forest when complete, with 3,500 more trees still to be planted. Additionally, 80,000 bluebell seeds have been scattered; many with the help of the local community.

Dave Smith, continued: “We’re over the moon to have won the regeneration category at this year’s Housebuilder awards. Branston Leas continues to be one of our most popular developments and I know that our new homeowners will be delighted to know they now live in award-winning homes.”

Aimed at recognising and celebrating excellence across the UK housebuilding industry, the Housebuilder Awards are supported by both the NHBC (National House Builders Council) and HBF (Home Builders Federation).

Currently, there is a range of four and five bedroom homes available to purchase at Branston Leas, with prices starting from just £266,995 for a four bedroom, three storey house.
