Nurses get treated by St. Modwen Homes

15 September 2014

Nurses at Myton Hospice in Rugby all received new uniforms this week thanks to a generous donation from local housebuilder, St. Modwen Homes.

The donation followed an appeal from The Myton Hospices which, as a registered charity, relies on funds from local people and businesses to ensure the organisation can continue to support people who are living with a terminal illness.

St. Modwen Homes made the decision to answer the appeal following support for the hospice from new homeowners at its Edison Place development, located off Technology Drive in Rugby.

Bev Hall, Sales and Marketing Director at St. Modwen Homes said: “Myton Hospice has provided extensive support to local people over the past 32 years. When we heard about the nurses’ appeal for new uniforms we felt that it was only right to lend a hand in recognition of all the hard work the team puts in on a daily basis.

“At all our developments across the UK, St. Modwen Homes is keen to support local causes that are close to the hearts of our new homeowners. It’s not enough to just build new homes; we also want to make sure that our developments are an important part of the local community.”

The new uniforms – which included four fleeces, four uniforms and a coat – were given to all four staff at Myton Hospice.

Rosie Houghton, Corporate Fundraiser at Myton Hospice said: “The nurses are over the moon with their new uniforms. It is only thanks to kind donations such as these that Myton Hospice is able to continue providing the high quality care it is known for.”

In 2002, the people of Rugby raised £1 million to build the Rugby Myton Day Hospice which provides care to the people of Rugby and the surrounding area. The aim of the Hospice is to ensure that people’s last months, weeks, days or hours are as good as they possibly can be, giving them the opportunity to live their lives to the full.

As well as the day centre, Myton also provides counselling and family support, clinical psychology, complementary therapy and spiritual care. For more information about the charity visit

An award-winning housebuilder, St. Modwen Homes continues to support local charities and community groups in Rugby, including organising a photography competition for students at Warwickshire College and sponsoring the youth team at St. Andrews Rugby Club.

Edison Place has proven incredibly popular amongst local people, with 60% of houses now sold in the first phase. There is currently a range of three and four bedroom homes for sale at Edison Place, starting in price from £226, 995.
